NEW ARTIST AT SOUTHSEA LIBRARY

Curating Spaces at Southsea Library continues with a new artist, welcome Susan Olde.

“My love for art has always been tucked away.  As a busy mum when I was younger and now it’s all nappies and playtime’s again with my grandchildren, I had little time for me and was waiting for life to be less busy. But then the world changed for us all when the pandemic came crashing down on everyone,  and I found a gap in my life through all the mayhem, for what I thought would be a few drawings at most! But the drawings turned into painting and now has become the most amazing hobby of my life! I’ve always taught my children that there is never is a right or wrong way when it comes to ‘art’ . It’s your way. So to anyone who feels ‘wobbly’ about giving it a go, just pick up a paintbrush and let the magic begin! Painting ‘my way’ with watercolour brushes, acrylic paints, watercolours and pouring acrylics.

Below Susan is pictured with her daughter (Amber) who was the one who persuaded Mum to apply. Susan is so pleased that Amber did this and now her art is showcasing in the library.

Curating Spaces is a pilot with Southsea Library to use the large front window space to showcase creative works by local artists and creatives. There was a great response to the call-out back in June 2023  and there will be a programme of different artists and creatives running up until April 2024.
